Napoli manager, Rudi Garcia, has acknowledged the significant absence of Victor Osimhen, as reported by Completesports.com.
Osimhen sustained a thigh injury while on international duty and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
This injury is set to force the Nigeria international to miss key Serie A fixtures against Hellas Verona and AC Milan, along with the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against AC Milan.
Garcia emphasized the importance of having all their players fit and ready for action, and losing Osimhen is indeed a substantial setback for the team. In light of this, he expressed the need to find a solution during Osimhen’s absence, recognizing the player’s integral role within the squad.
Osimhen, who played a pivotal part in Napoli’s Scudetto triumph last season, impressively scored 26 goals in 32 league appearances for the Partenopei. Furthermore, he contributed an additional five goals in the UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen has already netted six goals in 10 appearances across all competitions for Napoli. With Osimhen sidelined, Garcia will look to Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone to step up and provide the team with the necessary goal-scoring prowess.
Napoli faced consecutive defeats against Real Madrid and Fiorentina prior to the international break.
