It’s time for governance, not partisan politics – Benue governor

Benue State governor, Dr Samuel Ortom has called on people of the state to do away with the divisions of partisan politics and join hands with him to bring dividends of democracy to the people, adding that elections have come and gone, and that it is now time for governance.

Governor Ortom, who said by his election by the Benue people and his judicial victories from the tribunal up to the Supreme Court, he is the governor of everyone in the state, be they members of the PDP, APC or any other party.

He spoke at the wedding reception of Dr Fanen Ortese Ayatse, son of HRM Orchivirigh Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, Tor-Tiv V and his hearthrob, Nguzungwen Joan Agur held today at the IBB Square, Makurdi.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Engr Benson Abounu said his doors are open to everyone, and that every Benue citizen is his brother and sister, adding that there’s no APC Tiv and PDP Tiv, or Idoma PDP or Idoma APC as everyone are citizens of the state and share the same desire for development of the state..

Governor Ortom, who called on all Benue sons and daughters to join him on the cruise ship of development, which he is steering, stated that, what Benue State needs at the moment is unity of action to achieve the much needed development, not discordant voices or partisan warfare.

“As you are coming from Abuja into Makurdi, you can see poverty written all over Benue. It is clear that Benue State requires a lot of development and the only way we can develop the state is when we come together as citizens of Benue State”.

Governor Ortom congratulated Dr. Fanen Ayatse and his wife and prayed that the Almighty God make their union a truly blessed one.

Earlier, the minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Sen. George Akume, who also represented President Muhammadu Buhari at the event called for better relationship between people of the state and the federal government, explaining that the President means well for people of the state.
