JAMB cancels use of NABTEB for Direct Entry admission

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that admission-seeking candidates will no longer be able to use their National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB) A’level results to obtain Direct Entry admissions into universities.
JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede made the disclosure on Thursday during the 2022 policy meeting held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

He said the approval for the policy to be enforced has been given by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.

Oloyede however added that those who have already obtained the result before 2022 will be able to use it.

“The Honorable Minister of Education has approved that the NABTEB A’level GCE will no longer be recognized as a qualification for DE from 2022. However, all those who have already obtained it prior to this date will be able to use it,” he said.

Highlighting some of the challenges the board is facing, and particularly, those encountered during the conduct of the 2022 UTME/DE examination, Oloyede pointed at examination malpractices, impersonation and substitution of real candidates by paid examination takers, fraudulent CBT owners who sabotage examination, parents encouraging examination malpractices, mass cheating by syndicates, prolonged investigation and prosecution.

Earlier, IDOMA VOICE reported that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Thursday unveiled the candidate with the highest score in the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede announced Adebayo Eyimofe, an indigene of Ekiti State who wrote the exam in Abuja as the candidate with the highest UTME score of 362.
