Ado Local Government Executive Chairman, James Oche has on conditional grounds, relaxed the dusk to dawn curfew in Ufia Utonkon between the hours of 6am to 10pm.
Oche made the decision known yesterday in a correspondence addressed to the President of the Ufia Development Association.
You may recall that over a week ago, women and youths of Ufia took to the streets in protest against insecurity and the alleged involvement of some of their traditional rulers in compromising security and in the process destroyed properties worth hundreds of millions, necessitating the Oche led Executive Council to place a dusk to dawn curfew within the area.
Our sources gathered that, the Ufia Development Association had, in the wake of the anticipated Easter Celebration written the chairman on compassionate grounds seeking a relaxation of the curfew so as to enable the people celebrate.
The chairman we understand, after due consultation with appropriate authorities including security agencies and most likely the Special Adviser on Security granted the request of the UDA with conditions as to undertaking to responsibility in any eventual breakdown of law and order as well as the need to caution the people on restiveness.
The development we understand has sparked celebrations among the people in anticipation of Easter Sunday and the return of their economic activities.
