Jandor clears the air on suspending Bode George from PDP

Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran, widely known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State during the 2023 election, clarified on Tuesday that he did not personally expel Chief Bode George from the party.

Jandor pointed out that George and those who backed candidates from rival political parties during the previous election effectively removed themselves from the PDP.

Previously, Jandor had asserted that party leaders who supported candidates outside the PDP in the last election had essentially forfeited their membership.

During his ‘State of the Nation’ address, Jandor proclaimed himself as the leader of the PDP in Lagos State.

However, during an appearance on Arise Television, he elaborated: “I did not expel them because I have no authority to do so. I would instead say they expelled themselves when they publicly declared support for another party during the 2023 election process.”

He continued, citing evidence from national television broadcasts of both the presidential and gubernatorial elections: “When a supposed leader of a political party goes on national TV to discourage voting for their own party’s candidate, it’s evident they have aligned themselves with another party.”

Jandor emphasized that if the party they supported had emerged victorious, they would have likely been part of the government. He clarified, “I don’t have the authority to expel them, and they never faced expulsion; they effectively removed themselves.”

He concluded by stating, “What we’re asserting is that by openly declaring allegiance elsewhere, they have relinquished their standing within our party.”
