The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended Babangida Abubakar for allegedly vandalizing electric cables in Kaugama Local Government Area.
In a statement to the press, the command’s spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest. He explained that police had received a report of vandalism involving high-tension cables along Ubba Road in Kaugama LGA.
In response, police patrol teams, particularly those covering highways between Hadejia and Kano, as well as Hadejia and Nguru, were mobilized to the area.
“Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Guri Divisional Police Headquarters arrested Babangida Abubakar of Hadejia LGA, who currently resides in Nguru LGA of Yobe State, in connection with the crime,” said DSP Adam.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and identified Abdullahi Isma’il of Nguru LGA, Yobe State, as the recipient of the stolen cables. Isma’il was also apprehended.
Further investigation revealed that the principal suspect had a previous conviction for the same offense.
