Today 7th October, 2019, His Lordship Justice Henry Olusiyi will deliver judgment in an election petition instituted by Emmanuel Jime and APC against the validity or otherwise, the 2019 Benue Governorship election.
Jime and APC are challenging INEC for returning Samuel Ortom of PDP as winner of the election, the first to have been declared only after a supplementary poll.
The petitioners want the Tribunal to void the return of Ortom and declare them as winners.
All the respondents (INEC, Ortom, PDP) have denied the allegations. But Ortom, who called a lone witness, INEC and PDP rested their defence on the petitioners.
Will the Honourable Tribunal hold that APC’s Jime won the poll by 2, 224 votes? Will their Lordships hold that INEC was right, returning PDP’s Ortom as winner?
Wherefore, at 9:00 hours or so soon as their Lordships Honourable Justice Henry Olusiyi (Chairman), Honourable Justice AA Ajeigbe (member I) and Hon Justice GF Ette (member II) convene on Monday, 7th October, 2019, a verdict will be passed.
