Jime’s Running-Mate: I will Resign if my Party Messes Up – Benue APC director of publicity

Comrade Apeh Peterhot, the All Progressive Congress (APC) director of Publicity in Benue State has threatened to dump the party if the party’s deputy governoship position is given to any “unwarranted” individual.

Apeh in a statement said “I was barely 25 when I contested for Owukpa Ehaje Ward 2 Councillorship seat in 2007 under the defunct Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD). Comrade Abba Yaro handed me the flag after I came top in the primary election. About a month into the campaign, the party changed its name to Action Congress (AC) before the said local government election was suspended and caretaker committee was formed. I kept fate with the party through good and bad times, even as the party metamorphosed from AC to Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and to what we have today as the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“In the 2014-2015 general elections, I did my best for the party both in Benue and at the Federal level. I was actively involved in the fight for supremacy on the blogosphere; we did the rough jobs all together. I am one of the most attacked blogger or online publisher supporting the party. I have had opportunities and offers to dump the party but I kept to the doctrines of party loyalty with utmost respect for its leaders at all levels. I stepped on tolls, even went against my personal wishes to help the APC in my little capacity -all because I saw seriousness in the party’s resolve to take over government in that election.

“Today, I have to bare my mind, as a fearless politician and publisher who now takes media attack on my person over party matters as a mere expression of anger by those whose interests run contrary to mine. I do not insult or lash back at those that derogates my personality, all because of my resolve to maintain my loyalty for the party.
What have I gained from the party all these years of my unhindered loyalty to the party, nothing -except being appointed recently as Director of Publicity of the party in the State. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the party in that capacity anyway -and have been defending the party, discharging my duties creditably whenever the need arises.

“However, my resolve over the issue of who becomes the running mate to our party’s Governorship candidate in the forthcoming general elections is, if the party leadership decides to mess up the position by ceding it to an unwarranted, arrogant soul who cannot deliver his ward, local government or senatorial district, I will resign my appointment as State Director of Publicity of the party. It’s a promise!
We should not deploy pertinent factors as yardstick for measuring who is qualified for the position or not. Politics is way beyond this. Let us consider factors like who appeals most to the electorates, have paid and spend his or her hard earned resources to keep the party in motion -even without vying for any elective position. We have mature party men who can not go against decisions of the party for their selfish aims, those that have succeeded in their respective business outings. I can’t stand another Ortom in our party. I can’t take bullet for anyone who will dump the party after little differences. I won’t be party to any disloyal fellow. I would rather pack my loads and return to my blogging business which is already affected by my current job.
This decision is premised on the ground that the party’s choice of who becomes Barr. Emmanuel Jime’s running-mate from the Zone C senatorial district will affect the party’s chances and subsequent performance in the elections next year. If the party wants to fail, I will stand afar and watch it fail but if it wants to succeed, I will stand in and ensure I deliver the party -media wise. Let us reason together before we fall apart”. He added.
