Jordi Alba joins Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets Inter Miami

Former Spain international defender Jordi Alba has officially signed with Inter Miami, making him teammates once again with his former Barcelona colleagues, Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. The Major League Soccer club confirmed the deal, securing Alba’s services until 2024, with an option for 2025.

Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas had previously hinted at Alba’s arrival, and now the 34-year-old left-back is set to reunite with Messi and Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets, both of whom were also former Barcelona players. With the star-studded trio now part of the squad, Inter Miami, co-owned by David Beckham, is eager to turn their fortunes around in the MLS.

Alba’s career at Barcelona was illustrious, winning six Spanish league titles and being a vital part of the team that lifted the 2015 Champions League trophy. He also played a key role in Spain’s triumph at the 2012 European Championship.

The acquisition of Alba is seen as a significant boost to Inter Miami’s squad, with sporting director Chris Henderson expressing excitement about having an accomplished and experienced player in their ranks. Henderson praised Alba’s defensive solidity and attacking contributions, which have made him one of the best fullbacks in the sport for over a decade.

Following his contract termination with Barcelona in May, Alba was eager for a fresh challenge, and Inter Miami emerged as the ideal destination for the seasoned defender.

Inter Miami confirmed that Alba will soon join the team for training and is expected to be part of the squad in the coming days. Meanwhile, Messi and Busquets have already participated in training sessions and are gearing up to make their debut for the club, potentially featuring in the match against Cruz Azul from Mexico in the Leagues Cup, though their starting roles are yet to be determined.
