Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has commended Super Eagles striker David Okereke for achieving a unique milestone by becoming the first player to score against three different teams under Mourinho’s management.
Okereke found the net with a first-half equalizer during Gaziantep’s 3-1 defeat at the Ulker Stadium Sukru Saracoglu on Monday.
The Nigerian forward had previously scored against Mourinho’s Roma while representing Venezia and Cremonese in Serie A.
“I congratulate David Okereke. He is the first player to score against all three teams that I managed.
He scored against my teams while playing for Venezia, Cremonese and Gaziantep,” Mourinho told TRT Spor after the match.
Despite David Okereke’s historic goal, which canceled out Oguz Aydin’s early opener, Fenerbahce secured a 3-1 victory with second-half strikes from Rodrigo Becao and Edin Dzeko.
Okereke’s goal, his third in the Turkish Süper Lig this season, continues his impressive record of scoring against teams managed by Portuguese tactician José Mourinho.
Mourinho’s tactical adjustments after halftime proved crucial in breaking Gaziantep’s resistance, denying Okereke’s side a potential point in what could have been a memorable away performance.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager’s praise underscores Okereke’s rising reputation as a dependable goalscorer, having now left his mark against Mourinho-led teams at three different clubs and across two countries.
