Journalists covering the Government House, Port Harcourt were on Tuesday barred from the meeting between members of the Board of Trustees, Peoples Democratic Party and their host, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
It was learnt that Governor Wike had opened his doors to the state house reporters, but on second thought, he had asked the leader of the visitors and acting BoT chairman of the party, Adolphus Wabara, if he didn’t mind an open meeting.
Wabara reportedly answered in the negative, and newsmen were excused.
The meetings, which started early afternoon, are still on, as expectations are.
The visiting BoT members are joined for the meeting by some BoT members from Rivers State and other party state leaders.
The Rivers contingent for the meeting are the State PDP Chairman and former Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, Desmond Akawor; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche; BoT member and chairman of the Rivers PDP elders council, Ferdinand Anabraba; former Chief Whip of the Senate, Adawari Pepple; and Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, Engr. Emeka Woke.
Others are elder statesmen Dr. Sam-Sam Jaja and Emma Anyanwu.
Our correspondent on ground reports that journalists in the state house will be briefed on the outcome at the end of the meeting.
