The management of Benue Links Nigeria Limited has commenced the revival of its previously moribund Marcopolo mass transit buses, aiming to ensure consistent availability of transport services for its customers and to provide affordable town service transport for residents of Makurdi, Benue State.
IDOMA VOICE reports that this development was revealed by the General Manager, Comrade Alexander Aondohemba Fanafa, KSM, MNIM, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, during his appearance as a guest on MTEM U HIGEN, a Radio Benue audience participatory program broadcast in the Tiv language. The program was anchored by Ngukpen Diogo and Celestine Kai.
Comrade Fanafa explained that the Marcopolo buses being resuscitated were part of the company’s fleet, many of which had been sold or abandoned and left to deteriorate. Once fully refurbished, these buses will be deployed within Makurdi to provide affordable transport services at subsidized rates.
The General Manager expressed his gratitude to the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his administration’s various interventions, including the recent donation of trucks that have enabled the company to commence haulage services and the provision of funds to revive the Marcopolo buses.
He assured the public that these efforts would enhance the company’s ability to offer safe and comfortable transport services to the people of Benue State at subsidized rates.
