The tragic case has sparked widespread outrage, with demands to end violence against young women.

Youths in Abuja staged a peaceful protest on Monday, calling for justice for Salome Adaidu, the corps member allegedly murdered by gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi.

The protest, which began in the early hours of the morning, saw hundreds of residents, particularly young people, gather in Nyanya to voice their outrage over the brutal killing. They marched through the streets chanting “Justice for Salome!” and “Say No to Violence,” carrying placards with the hashtag #JusticeForSalome.

Salome, who was an NYSC corps member, was murdered by Ajayi, who is accused of decapitating her and disposing of her severed head in a polythene bag. The shocking incident has sent shockwaves through the community and beyond, with many calling for swift action and accountability.

Speaking to IDOMA VOICE during the protest, one of the demonstrators, Nkechi Okoro, said: “We want justice for Salome. We can’t let her death go in vain. This is a peaceful protest to demand that those responsible for her murder be brought to justice, and we won’t stop until justice is served.”

Another protester, John Okafor, stated, “Salome was a bright young woman with a promising future, and her life was taken from her in the most brutal way. As the youths of Nyanya, we stand united to demand justice for her.”

The protest also called on the Nigerian government and security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation into the case and make the judicial process transparent. The youth leaders emphasized that Salome’s family deserves to see justice done and the perpetrator, Timilehin Ajayi, must face the full weight of the law for his actions.

The protest ended peacefully, with participants urging that their voices be heard, and a strong message sent that violence against women and young people would not be tolerated. Local authorities and law enforcement agencies have promised to monitor the situation closely as the case continues to unfold.

Salome’s family has expressed gratitude for the support shown by the community, as they continue to mourn their loss. The call for justice for Salome grows louder, and many have vowed to continue advocating for her in every available space until justice is served.

The case remains under investigation, with authorities urging anyone with information about the crime to come forward.
