Juventus set to terminate Pogba’s contract for doping

Juventus have the option to cancel Paul Pogba’s contract should he face suspension by Italian football authorities.

According to ESPN, Serie A giants Juventus have halted the payment of Paul Pogba’s €8 million-per-year salary. They have also informed the midfielder that if he faces suspension by Italian football authorities, there is a potential for the termination of his contract, which is set to run until June 2026.

Reportedly, Pogba has acknowledged to Juventus that he consumed certain nutritional supplements unknowingly containing testosterone, resulting in a positive drug test and the looming threat of a provisional four-year ban.

In his defense, Pogba intends to argue that he ingested the supplement without awareness of its testosterone content.

He may potentially face criminal charges, as drug doping is considered a criminal offense in Italy.

Pogba awaits the outcome of his backup B sample, which is expected to be available before the week’s end. Unfortunately, indications suggest that the B sample may also test positive. As a result, pending further investigation, including a trial and B sample testing, Pogba faces the possibility of a suspension of up to four years.
