The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has raised concerns about the lack of balance in Governor Uba Sani’s recent appointments since taking office. The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Abraham Alberah Catoh, released a statement expressing dismay over the appointments, particularly the list of fourteen commissioners-designate, which appears to exclude or marginalize certain sections of the population.
According to the PDP, the appointments have not been transparent, and information about the nominees’ local governments of origin has been concealed to hide the evident inequity. The party emphasized the importance of fairness in promoting unity, peace, and development in the state, asserting that it upholds the principles of equity and justice.
The PDP condemned these divisive actions, reminiscent of the Nasir El-rufa’i era, and urged the government to withdraw the list and make necessary adjustments to ensure a balanced representation in all appointments and projects across the state, in accordance with the federal character principle enshrined in the 1999 constitution (as amended).
The party also called on the people of the state to remain calm and hopeful, expressing their commitment to pursuing their mandate at the tribunal. The PDP assured the citizens of their dedication to restoring an all-inclusive government once the mandate, received in the March 18, 2023 governorship polls, is upheld by the courts.
