Kannywood mourns as legendary actor Karkuzu dies at 94

Veteran Kannywood actor Abdullahi Shuaibu, popularly known as Karkuzu, passed away at 94. The renowned Jos-based actor died on Tuesday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), leaving a significant void in the Nigerian film industry.

His funeral prayer took place on Wednesday morning, drawing a large crowd of mourners, including family, friends, and colleagues from the entertainment world.

Karkuzu’s son, Dalhatu Abdullahi, expressed deep sorrow over his father’s passing, describing him as a source of wisdom and strength. “The demise of my father is a great loss to us. He was not only a father but a pillar of guidance. We will miss him dearly,” he said.

Veteran actor and close associate Sani Mu’azu paid tribute to Karkuzu’s enduring legacy, praising his dedication to his craft despite facing health challenges. “What struck me most about Karkuzu was his resilience and passion for acting. Even in his old age, he continued to inspire younger generations with his talent,” Mu’azu said.

Reflecting on their decades-long friendship, Mu’azu described Karkuzu as an exceptional talent who seamlessly transitioned between comedic and serious roles. “I had the privilege of knowing him for over 40 years, and his contributions to the industry are immeasurable. His legacy will live on through the unforgettable characters he brought to life.”

Survived by his wife and six children, Karkuzu was widely respected in Kannywood for his ability to portray diverse roles, earning admiration for his versatility and dedication to the film industry.
