The Kano State Government has mandated the demolition of the palace of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero.
Haruna Dederi, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, stated that the demolition is intended to facilitate the renovation of the palace.
Dederi further revealed that the Commissioner of Police has been instructed to remove Bayero from the Nasarawa GRA mini palace where he currently resides.
During a press conference, Dederi announced that the government has “finalized plans for the comprehensive reconstruction and renovation of the property, which includes the immediate demolition and rebuilding of the dilapidated wall fence.”
This announcement follows shortly after the Federal High Court’s ruling on the substantive suit validating the Kano Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024, while nullifying all actions taken by Governor Abba Yusuf subsequent to the law’s passage.
