The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended eight suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, and other related offenses.
Police spokesperson Abubakar Sadiq announced the arrests during a press conference at the Command Headquarters in Katsina. Among those arrested is 16-year-old Nuhu Haruna from Fenza village in the Dutsinma Local Government Area, who is connected to a case of culpable homicide. Haruna was detained on October 21, 2024, following a dispute with his stepmother, 40-year-old Rabi Haruna, during which he allegedly struck her in the stomach with a stick, leading to her death. He later confessed to the crime during the investigation.
Additionally, Abubakar Nasiru, also known as Haro, was arrested for suspected criminal conspiracy and kidnapping. Nasiru, previously convicted of rape, was re-arrested as part of an ongoing investigation. He confessed to conspiring with others—now at large—to kidnap three victims from Unguwar Maza village in Kafur LGA in 2023. A ransom of thirteen million naira was reportedly paid for their release, of which Nasiru claimed he received two million naira as his share.
The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects as the investigation unfolds.
