Katsina police rescue 3 kidnapped victims

Police in Katsina successfully rescued three individuals who had been kidnapped in the village of Gogalo in the Jibia Local Government Area.

The victims were abducted by armed men wielding AK-47 rifles on Saturday.

The timely response to a distress call by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia led to the mobilization of a search and rescue team, which tirelessly combed the surrounding areas until the early hours of Sunday.

Around 0600hrs, the police team located the suspected kidnappers, sparking a fierce gun battle. Despite the intensity of the firefight, all three kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unharmed. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, revealed this information in a statement on Monday.

Commending the exemplary bravery of the involved operatives, the Commissioner of Police for the Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, urged citizens to stay vigilant and report timely information on criminal activities. He stressed the importance of swift and decisive action to curb criminal activities in the state.

CP Musa also urged residents in the area to promptly report individuals with suspicious injuries, noting that some of the bandits escaped with gunshot wounds.
