Kenneth Okonkwo under fire for dumping Labour Party, insulting Peter Obi

The Labour Party (LP) has characterized Kenneth Okonkwo as a mole, asserting that his recent departure from the party was anticipated.

The party condemned Okonkwo’s recent criticisms of its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, calling them both regrettable and driven by a desire for attention.

On Sunday, Okonkwo, a prominent LP figure, publicly declared his loss of faith in Obi’s ability to lead the party to electoral victory. He argued that despite popular support, Obi lacked the capacity to secure the mandate needed for success.

The actor-turned-politician also stated that recent developments within the party had prompted him to seek a new political path.

In response, LP National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh issued a statement dismissing Okonkwo’s resignation as unsurprising. Ifoh criticized Okonkwo’s attack on Obi, labeling it as a pursuit of publicity rather than a substantial critique.

“Kenneth Okonkwo’s departure from the Labour Party did not surprise us. His disparaging remarks about our leader, Peter Obi, are regrettable,” Ifoh remarked. “We choose not to engage further with his provocations, recognizing his apparent need for attention.”
