Kenneth Omeruo lands in Turkey for medicals ahead of Kasimpasa move

Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo, has arrived in Turkey on Tuesday after bidding farewell to his teammates and staff at Spain’s Segunda Division side, CD Leganés, following his move to Turkish Super Lig club, Kasimpasa.

Omeruo’s representatives confirmed that the defender obtained his entry visa to return to Turkey today, with the intention of finalizing personal terms and undergoing medical examinations with Kasimpasa, the club where he had a previous loan spell.

Having played for Nigeria’s U17 and U20 teams, Omeruo later had trials with Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht before joining another Belgian top division side, Standard de Liège. He is now on the verge of securing a second stint with Kasimpasa, where he previously played on loan in 2015.

After his time at Kasimpasa, Omeruo returned to England and rejoined Chelsea, where the competition for places was fierce with players like John Terry, Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack, Mikel Obi, Didier Drogba, and Michael Essien. He subsequently went on several loan spells to gain valuable experience.

As Omeruo prepares to complete his move to Kasimpasa, his former club, CD Leganés, has been supportive in making the transfer a reality, despite him being the team’s captain. The defender did not feature in the last two games for Leganés, indicating that his move was imminent.
