Operatives from the Ondo State Police Command have apprehended five suspected kidnappers who dozed off after abducting a pastor’s wife and two others.
These suspects reportedly succumbed to sleep after ingesting narcotics.
Among those arrested are Garuba Mumuni, 27; Yusuf Tale, 21; Kabiru Muhammed, 16; Shaibu Umar; and Adamu Mohammed, 22.
The police disclosed that the apprehension took place at the Ofosu Division, following identification of one of the suspects by the victims.
In the words of the police, “A kidnapping incident was reported at Ofosu Division, involving the abduction of a pastor’s wife and a church member, alongside a third victim taken while collecting snails on a farm.
“However, the victims managed to break free from their captors on separate occasions, as the abductors had succumbed to the effects of narcotics and fell asleep.
“Utilizing intelligence, on May 1, 2024, five out of the six kidnappers were apprehended by officers from Ofosu division and have been recognized by the victims as part of the gang responsible for their abduction.”
The state’s commissioner of police, Abayomi Oladipo, stated that the suspects would imminently face charges in court.
