Barely one month after kidnappers abducted a don along Enugwu-Agidi -Nawgu road in the Njikoka local council area, kidnappers again struck two poles away from the spot where the last one that took place.
As usual it was at dusk, about 6pm that a family of three walked into the kidnappers trap very close to Ali Enugwu-Agidi bridge.
It was learnt that just as the family was abducted a Reverend Father approached the scene but luckily escaped through the reverse gear.
It was learnt that a family of three was kidnapped but the wife and their litle girl were released at about 3am while the abductors held the man for ransome.
The police refused to give full details of what happened as the spokesman Haruna Mohammed (CSP) merely conformed that a distress call was received on Tuesday night and men of Rapid Response Squad was drafted to the area.
He said he hadn’t got more information on the case.
However, the President General of Enugwu-Agidi community Mr. Ndubuisi Obijifor confirmed that a family was kidnapped while the wife and their daughter were later released at about 3am yesterday.
He also confirmed that documents recovered from the victims showed they hail from Nteje in Oyi local council of Anambra State.
It will be recalled that abductors struck on a spot about two poles apart last October 28 when they abducted a university don later identified as Professor Silvia Okonkwo of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam on her way back from work.
Both incidents took place on bad portions of the road.
After the October 28 incident, the Anambra State Government quickly repaired the bad spot leaving other dilapidated portions of the long stretch road.
Prior to these incidents in 2019, a similar incident took place.
In his reaction the traditional ruler of Nawgu, a neighbouring community, Igwe George Okaa-Onwuogu pleaded with law enforcement agencies to mount a special squad on the road to unmask masterminds of the ugly incidents and possibly stop them.
