Kidnappers’ Zone in Igumale undergoes deforestation to host Etenyi daily market, timber, garri factories

Determined to come in on all fronts to check the brewing insecurity that once engulfed Igumale and other parts of Ado, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, James Oche has engaged workers to clear the forest used as hideout by criminals particularly kidnappers with the view of turning the area into a commercial centre.

Inspecting the site of the ongoing deforestation, Mr. Oche said the area would be used to consolidate all timber sheds in the Local Government, establish a garri processing factory and revive the Etenyi market to become the first daily market in the whole of Ado Local Government.

The clearing which is being done on both sides of the road started from Igumale Star Cement Factory through Etenyi to Rijo in Ogege Ward. It is informed on good authority that more than 7 abductions have been so far recorded within this spot alone.

Mr. Oche who had a meeting with the people of the community intimated them that, when completed the tripartite economic plan would generate revenue and business opportunities for many. Responding, Chief John Odang, the Clan Head of Olokwu, the host community said it was a welcome development and assured that his people will support the process in anyway possible.

The clearing of forest will dislodge criminal elements especially Fulani herdsmen who have consistently used the area as their closest hideout and take off point to carry out their nefarious activities.

Oche’s developmental strides in Ado Local Government have continued to spur jubilation among the people as he seems to, with the passage of everyday, beat their imaginations since assumption of office.

On the Chairman’s entourage to the meeting with the host community was his vice chairman Hon , Solomon Aboh, Comrade Godwin Obande, Mr Sam Obande – Security Secretary, Special Adviser on Security, Logistic – Comrade Macjohnson Odey, the DPO, DSP Bulama Usman and the Ado Commander of the Homeland Land Defense, Abraham Ochoga.
