Kidney removal: NMA disowns Noah Kekere
The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has disclosed its findings, asserting that Noah Kekere, the individual arrested on allegations of illicitly removing a woman’s kidney in Jos, Plateau State, is not a medical doctor.
The accusations arose when a Jos-based businessman, Kamal Busari, accused Dr. Kekere of performing a kidney removal surgery on his wife without his knowledge.
The victim, Mrs. Kehinde Kamal, explained during an interview with Daily Trust that her kidney went missing, and this was discovered at Jos University Teaching Hospital after she complained of abdominal pain.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Dr. Bapigaan William Audu, the Chairman of the Plateau State chapter of NMA, clarified in a telephone interview with Daily Trust Sunday that the records at their secretariat confirm that the suspect is neither a medical doctor nor a member of NMA.
He stated, “What we have at our secretariat and the investigation we have carried out showed that he (Dr. Kekere) is not a doctor and not our member.”
Dr. Audu further mentioned, “We are going to come out with an informed decision on the matter. We are looking at different aspects of the matter as well as different facts available at the moment. So, I think things will be clearer by Monday or Tuesday.”
