The Kogi State Ministry of Education has commenced recruitment of teachers in the state.

This, the government said, would address the shortfall in the state schools.

To this end, the state Science Teaching Service Commission on Tuesday commenced aptitude tests for over 6,000 applicants jostling for the 2000 vacant positions across the state.

The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wemi Jones, who opened the aptitude test for the shortlisted candidates at the Kogi State Polytechnic CBT centre eulogised the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for making education a top priority project.

The state government said it would in the first batch employ 2000 successful teachers to resume in the new session, describing the gesture by Gov. Yahaya Bello as unprecedented.

The Commissioner said the previous administration had dodged that responsibility, and stressed that the governor’s love for education necessitated his directives to engage teachers.

“The state is resolved to employing qualified teachers that will serve as the bedrock for sustainable education as envisioned by the present administration.”
