The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Dino Melaye, suffers a loss in his home of Ijumu Local Government Area in the Kogi governorship election to Ahmed Ododo of the All Progressives Congress.
Samuel Obasan, the Local Government Returning officer, declared the results, indicating the APC’s victory with 10,524 votes, followed by the PDP with 6,909 votes.
The ADC secured the third position with 1,898 votes, while the SDP garnered 356 votes.
During the election, Melaye had raised concerns about “filled result sheets” in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area and called for the suspension of the exercise due to reported violence and instances of vote buying.
In response, INEC suspended the election in nine wards within the local government area.
