Kogi to prosecute those responsible for burying 11-year-old boy alive

The Kogi State Government is taking action to prosecute all individuals involved in the horrific incident where 11-year-old Friday Oshodi was allegedly buried alive.

Hajia Fatima Kabir Buba, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, shared this information during an interview with DAILY POST on Thursday. She also revealed that the ministry is arranging for the victim to be placed in an orphanage home.

The ministry’s investigations suggest that the boy has been subjected to maltreatment by his stepmother and brother. The government is committed to ensuring justice is served to all those responsible for this dreadful act.

Hajia Fatima reiterated the state’s dedication, under Governor Yahaya Bello’s leadership, to safeguarding the rights of children. She issued a warning that any guardian found subjecting their wards to inhumane treatment will face legal consequences.

“The victim, Friday Oshodi, is currently in our custody, while the prime suspect, Goodness Oshodi, is in police custody. This is an extreme act of cruelty. How could someone bury another human being alive?

“The woman who ordered the punishment of this young boy is currently at large. I assure the general public that she will be apprehended and brought to justice,” she declared.

Recall that Goodness Oshodi was accused of burying his younger brother, Friday Oshodi, alive, allegedly for stealing money. This shocking incident took place in Silo community, Apamisede, in Zango Daji, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
