Kwankwaso replies Ganduje over ‘dead on arrival’ comment on Obi ticket

Vice presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has responded to comments by former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, regarding the party’s chances in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general election.

Ganduje had on Tuesday claimed that the NDC presidential ticket featuring Peter Obi and Kwankwaso had no chance of winning Kano, describing the alliance as “dead on arrival.”

The former Kano State governor also argued that the ticket lacked the political influence and leadership credentials required to secure support in the state.

Reacting to the comments, Kwankwaso said Ganduje had no basis for making such claims, recalling the political contests between them and asserting that Ganduje was unable to defeat him when he held office as governor.

Speaking on News Central TV, Kwankwaso said, “We supported him in 2015. In 2023, we defeated him, and if he could not do anything when he was governor, what can he do now?”

He maintained that past election outcomes showed the strength of his political structure in Kano and questioned Ganduje’s assessment of the NDC’s prospects in the state.
