La Liga: Barcelona’s title hopes hurt by home loss to Leganes

Barcelona suffered an unexpected home defeat to Leganes, reducing their lead at the top of La Liga.

Hansi Flick’s team now sits just above Atletico Madrid on goal difference, with only a one-point lead over third-placed Real Madrid.

Leganes, who climb to 15th in the table, took the lead in the fourth minute when Sergio Gonzalez headed in Oscar Rodriguez’s corner— the only goal of the match.

Barcelona dominated possession with 20 shots, but the closest they came to scoring was when Raphinha’s half-volley, from an Alex Balde cross, struck the crossbar.

Earlier on Sunday, Atletico Madrid won 1-0 against Getafe to level points with Barcelona.

Reigning champions Real Madrid drew 3-3 with Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
