Labour Party accuses Peter Obi of stealing $15m, N12bn campaign fund

The Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labor Party (LP) has made serious allegations against the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. The faction has accused Obi of diverting a staggering $15 million and N12 billion, which were earmarked for his presidential campaign.

According to the faction, these substantial funds were allegedly misappropriated by Obi for purposes unrelated to the campaign. Specifically, they claim that Obi used these funds to support the embattled Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, as well as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Abayomi Arabambi, the spokesperson for Apapa’s faction, released a statement outlining these allegations. In part, the statement reads: “Our previous position has now been confirmed that Peter Obi was just all out to defraud our party of donations made towards the 2023 general election, which was in a scary sum of $15 million and N12 billion that Peter Obi deliberately used for the cure of Abure’s poverty lineage and help other Julius Abure IPOB irresponsible ethnic irredeemable irredentist supporters to have a lifeline.”

The statement goes on to assert that Peter Obi allegedly “fraudulently converted all monies due to our agents across the country, and they all refused to represent the party at all polling units.”
