Labour Party threatens suspension of Peter Obi amid credential controversy
The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is facing the prospect of suspension due to recent allegations that he utilized his deceased brother’s academic credentials.
This suspension threat was issued by a faction of the Labour Party led by Lamidi Apapa. They sternly warned that unless Peter Obi clarifies the discrepancies in his educational records within the next 48 hours, suspension proceedings would be initiated.
In a statement, Abayomi Arabambi, the faction’s spokesperson, called upon the former Anambra governor to address the allegations of impersonation regarding his brother.
At this point, the Labour Party demands answers to the following questions:
- What is the name of Peter Obi’s purported elder brother who studied computer science?
- When did Peter Obi’s elder brother pass away?
- What names were indicated on their secondary school and University of Nigeria Nsukka certificates?
- What was his brother’s occupation?
- Where is Peter Obi’s birth certificate, and what name does it bear?
- Why does the name on his birth certificate differ from the one on his school certificate?
- Why is the name on his school certificate distinct from that on his UNN certificate?
- Which university facilitated Peter Obi’s one-year NYSC service, and why does the name on his NYSC certificate differ from the one on his University of Nigeria Nsukka certificate?
We anticipated that Peter Obi would provide a satisfactory response to these inquiries, thereby elucidating the reasons for these apparent inconsistencies in his academic records and revealing his true identity. This transparency would prevent further unnecessary national embarrassment for our party.
However, instead of addressing these questions, Peter Obi’s spokesperson resorted to political maneuvering, preferring to promote unfounded claims, thus confirming our suspicions that he is using his deceased elder brother’s name and credentials.
Furthermore, the Labour Party seeks to understand why Mr. Obi only saw fit to submit his WAEC certificate, despite his failure to achieve the necessary credit passes in both mathematics and English, which are prerequisites for university admission in Nigeria.
We also ask Mr. Peter Obi to clarify the circumstances that led to the use of different names on various school records and public documents in a manner that appears shrouded and deceptive, rather than resorting to blackmail and unwarranted sentiments.
We challenge Mr. Peter Obi to provide comprehensive responses to the aforementioned questions within the next 48 hours to dispel the uncertainty surrounding his identity.
Failure to do so will result in his suspension from the Labour Party.
