The Lagos State Police Command has brought two men, Chiagoziem Obi and Joseph Nkpokpo, before an Ojo Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, charged with stealing chairs valued at N9.6 million.

The defendants are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft before Magistrate A. Alade, to which both men pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Insp. Esther Adesulu told the court that the theft occurred on September 21 at Olojo Drive in Ojo, Lagos. She alleged that the defendants conspired to steal 40 “Airport” brand chairs, collectively worth N9.6 million, which belonged to the complainant, Mr. James Uzomiwu.

The offences are said to contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Alade granted bail to each defendant in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties each in like amount. The case was adjourned until October 17 for mention.
