Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has debunked reports that he ordered the closure of all churches in the State.
In a statement by the State’s Police PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday, he said the CP enforced COVID-19 protocols directed by the Presidential Taskforce (PTF) and the Lagos State Government respectively.
The preventive COVID-19 protocols include the use of face mask at public places, maintaining social distancing, closure of night clubs, bars, lounges, event centres; no social party, street carnivals and due enforcement of the Federal Government imposed 12 midnight to 4am curfew.
The Police PRO revealed that Nlno closure of churches was included in the already established and released COVID-19 protocols.
Adejobi, who stated that churches are allowed to operate in accordance with all laid down COVID-19 protocols, urged the general public to disregard the reports which he described as ‘misleading and unfounded’.
He appealed to Lagosians to cooperate with the State Government in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the State.
