Lagos socialite, Farida Abdulkabir, also known as Farida Sobowale, has opened up about her recent suicide attempt on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
In a viral voice note circulating on social media, Abdulkabir discussed the circumstances that led her to the brink of despair.
Abdulkabir, the owner of the renowned House of Phreedah beauty lounge and spa in Surulere, cited a series of challenges, including a failed marriage and overwhelming frustrations, as the driving forces behind her harrowing decision.
In her emotional account, she disclosed that her high-profile N100 million marriage to fellow Lagos socialite Demola Okulaja abruptly crumbled within two months. The turmoil ensuing from the collapsed marriage reportedly pushed her to the brink, culminating in her intention to take her own life.
She said, “Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.
“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.”
