Lagos Taskforce busts drug peddlers’ hideouts, arrests 19 suspects in Gowon Estate
The Lagos State Taskforce has uncovered multiple criminal hideouts and black spots in Gowon Estate and neighboring streets, leading to the arrest of 19 suspects allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking and other illegal activities.
During the operation, officers seized a significant quantity of illicit substances, including Colorado, Indian hemp, and various narcotics. Several bags of hard drugs were also found hidden in the trunks of vehicles parked in the area, highlighting the scale of criminal activity in the neighborhood.
Adetayo Akerele, Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce and Chief Superintendent of Police, reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to eliminate crime and safeguard the peace of residents.
“This operation underscores our zero-tolerance stance against illegal activities that threaten the security of Lagos. The suspects will face the full force of the law as investigations proceed. We urge residents to report suspicious activities through our ‘See Something, Say Something’ initiative,” he stated.
Akerele emphasized the Taskforce’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe environment and called on the public to stay vigilant and support law enforcement efforts to build a crime-free society.
This latest operation is the fifth in a series of strategic actions aimed at eradicating drug use and hooliganism in the area.
