The Lagos State government has announced the release of Makemation, Africa’s first artificial intelligence-themed feature film, set to hit cinemas across Nigeria on April 18, 2025, during Easter Weekend.

The film highlights the impact of young Africans, particularly girls, using AI and technology to solve critical challenges.

A coming-of-age drama, Makemation follows a young girl from a low-income Lagos community navigating hardships with resilience and innovation. The film blends entertainment with themes of hope and technological transformation.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement on X, emphasized Lagos’ commitment to fostering a dynamic creative industry that drives economic growth and positions the state as a cultural hub in Africa.

The film features top Nollywood stars, including Richard Mofe-Damijo, Tony Umez, Shaffy Bello, Ibrahim Chatta, Toyin Afolayan, and Ali Nuhu
