Everton manager, Frank Lampard has joined the number of other football stars who have since taken to different platforms to react to former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel’s retirement from football.
Lampard in a statement recalled the moment he played next to Mikel Obi during Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League 2012 final victory against German side Bayern Munich.
The Toffees manager also wished the former Nigerian captain good luck in the near future.
In a post via Instagram, Lampard wrote: “Congratulations on your amazing career mate. A pleasure playing next to you and sharing that beautiful 120 minutes in Munich with you.
“Good luck for all that’s coming.”
Mikel Obi had on Tuesday, confirmed his retirement from football in a post via his Instagram page after a successful career with the Nigeria national team and at the club level.
Chelsea also pen a tribute to Mikel as they celebrated him on his retirement.
