1. Governor Samuel Ortom has on behalf of the Government and people of Benue State consoled the music legend, Bongos Ikwue over the death of his wife, Josephine Ifeyinwa Ikwue.
The Governor who led some members of the State Security and Executive Council on Thursday, August 11th, 2022 to pay the music legend a condolence visit at his Otukpo residence described the death as “painful.”
2. The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, on Wednesday failed to name his running mate for the 2023 election.
The meeting of party’s stakeholders ended in a deadlock as the former Catholic priest was not allowed to unveil his deputy.
3. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue State has alerted the general public to the desperate move by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to de-market the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.
PDP said the opposition party has lately taken to attacking everything about the administration of His Excellency Governor Samuel Ortom, including even development projects as well as security initiatives which the administration has worked on assiduously to improve the nagging security situation within the boundaries of the state and also the quality of life available to the people.
4. Barely a week after the inauguration of the state security outfit known as Volunteer Community Guards in Benue State, armed herders on Wednesday killed six people at two communities in Logo Local Government Area.
The incident, according to locals, happened at Tse Ngojov and Tse Valem Yaweh in Mbagum communities, Tombo council ward in Logo Local Government Area of the state.
5. Police on Thursday arraigned three farmers at the Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court in Benue for allegedly trading in dangerous weapons and terrorising people of the state.
The farmers – Terhide Iordye, Emmanuel Kuhwa and Titus Ikyor – were arraigned for criminal conspiracy, acts of terrorism and unlawful possession of offensive weapons.
