1. The Benue State Government on Thursday suspended mining activities in the state.
The state governor, Samuel Ortom, gave the directive at a meeting held with Kwande stakeholders at the Government House, Makurdi.
2. A first-class student of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University (JOSTUM), Tafi Joshua Sesugh, formally known as University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Shangev-ya, Kwande LGA, Benue State is dead.
A friend said Sesugh worked tirelessly and bagged a first class in Animal Nutrition and was awaiting confirmation and subsequently NYSC call-up before his demise.
3. The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been embroiled in crisis over the alleged ploy by a former Governor of the state, Mr George Akume to impose a Deputy Governorship candidate against the wish of majority members of the party.
Akume’s choice of a deputy governor is said to be threatening the party’s success in the 2023 governorship election unless the party’s national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, rises to the challenge and averts an implosion in the party.
4. Producers of TV show, The Johnsons, on Thursday, held an event to pay tributes to one of the show’s main characters, late actress, Ada Ameh, at Freedom Park in Lagos.
The cast and crew of The Johnsons, as well as other industry colleagues, wore black outfits for the tribute event.
5. No fewer than 10,000 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
