1. No fewer than four people were critically injured as suspected herders renewed their attack on communities in the Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
Suspected armed herders were said to have invaded the Nagi and Tse-Girgi Dajo communities in Gaambe Ushin council ward in the local government between Tuesday and early hours of Thursday.
2. No fewer than nine suspects were reportedly apprehended by the police in Benue state for alleged robbery and kidnapping during the new year festivities in Kwande, Vandeikya and Otukpo Local Government Areas, LGAs, of the state.
The arrest of the suspects was contained in a statement issued Monday in Makurdi by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene.

3. Teachers in Benue State say they are facing a lot of hardship due to the over 13 months of salaries owed them by the government.
Our correspondent reports that some of the public primary school teachers have taken to petty trading and farming after school hours to meet some of their household needs.
4. The Commissioner of Police in Benue State, Wale Abass, has disclosed that the Command arrested a total of eight suspects for various crimes during the Christmas season.
The commissioner who stated this in a review of activities of the festive period in the state commended his officers for their efforts which he said led to a hitch free celebrations adding that minimal criminal cases were recorded during the period.
5. The police command in Benue State yesterday arraigned one Mkighir Mzuuga in a Makurdi Upper Area Court for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl.
Police Prosecutor Veronica Shaagee told the court that the case was received at State Criminal Investigation Department, Makurdi from the Katsina-ala Divisional Police Station, via a letter dated December 30.
