1. Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue on Thursday said the state government will apply for the license to legalise usage of AK47, AK49 and other sophisticated weapons by members of its new Community Volunteer Guards.

Ortom disclosed this on Thursday while inaugurating the first batch of the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards comprising 500 personnel in Makurdi Benue State.

2. Plateau State Governor and Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, Simon Lalong yesterday received the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, at the Plateau Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

Rev. Alia said he came to appreciate the governor for his support and encouragement throughout the process of his emergence as the party’s flagbearer.

3. The Benue Youths Forum, BYF have raised an alarm over alleged plots to circumvent the 2022 Electoral Acts as amended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the group, some elements are planning to smuggle in reports on special congresses which were neither conducted by the Benue state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) or monitored by INEC.

4. As Lagos State prepares to host the 2022 National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) in November, the event’s organisers have appraised performance in the subsector.

The technical committee members of NAFEST looked down memory lane and concluded that some states have done well in promoting the nation’s rich culture.

The committee also singled out Benue and Delta State governors, Samuel Ortom and Ifeanyi Okowa respectively, for commendations for promote their unique cultures.

5. The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Benue state, Pastor Matthew Dabu, has described the attack on the Otukpo residence of the leader of Benue South All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Usman Abubakar, popularly known as young Alahj, as “barbaric, inhuman and unwarranted.”

Reacting to the incident in a statement issued Friday, the AA governorship candidate who is the general oversee of Anointed Truth and Life Christian Ministry said it was wrong to destroy another man’s investment, “be it a house, business premises or other properties.”

6. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has acknowledged the positive impact of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND in the growth of the educational subsector in the country.

Governor Ortom stated this on Friday, August 5th, 2022 when he received the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Arc. Sonny Echono who paid him a courtesy call at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
