1. The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt Hon. Titus Uba, doused political tension in the State when he announced that he was hale and hearty and ready to join the campaign train for the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Uba’s assurance came following weeks of apprehension over the health condition of the Benue State Speaker and PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 elections.

2. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disclosed that only three political parties, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Labour Party, LP, will be fielding candidates for all the available elective positions in Benue state in the coming 2023 generel elections.
The Commission also disclosed that a total of 426 candidates, representing 17 political parties will be contesting for positions in the state in the elections.
3. The commissioner of police in Benue State, Wale Abass, has warned that the command would not spare anyone or party that decides to truncate its effort to maintain peace before, during and after the 2023 general elections.
The commissioner who make his views known during a meeting with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) called on party members to adhere to the peace pact earlier signed by all party executives.
4. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development through the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), in collaboration with Samec Nigeria Company Limited has trained farmers in Gwer-East A/Gwer-West Federal Contituency on the use of latest technology, equipment and inputs for productive farming.
A total of 50 participants drawn from the federal constituency participated in the empowerment programme. Dignitaries present during the opening ceremony held at Mt Square Hotel Down Base, Makurdi, Benue State, included the Project Consultant, leaders of the federal constituency among others.

5. The Advocacy for Alleged Witches invites all victims and survivors of witchcraft allegations and witch persecutions in Benue state to come forward and share their stories and experiences. Until now, people who suffer attacks, torture, and assault following allegations of witchcraft resign to their fate. They suffer in silence and refuse to speak out or discuss the maltreatment meted out to them. Relatives seldom recount their pain and trauma after their family members have been lynched or murdered in cold blood by witch hunters. There is usually no space for victims to share their experiences and no audiences for alleged witches.
