1. Governor Samuel Ortom has expressed satisfaction at the rehabilitation work going on at the Wards and Theatre blocks of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH.
The Governor also said he was happy that the construction work at the multi-billion naira Benue Geographic Information Service, BENGIS complex is going according to plan.
2. Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Terver Akase says his principal, Governor Samuel Ortom places higher value on the protection of lives of the people above his political ambition.
Akase stated this Friday, October 28, 2022 in Makurdi when he featured on Brothers 90.5 FM current affairs programme ‘Burning Issues’.
3. Benue State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will formally inaugurate its campaign structures at the state level comprising the State Campaign Council and the State Campaign Management Committee, on Monday, 31st October, 2022 at the party’s State Secretariat in Makurdi.
A 168 member State Campaign Council will be inaugurated with His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom as Chairman, Governorship Candidate of the party in the 2023 elections, Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba, as Vice Chairman, and State Secretary of the party, Dr. Joseph Nyame as Secretary.
4. The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has donated N20 million to the Catholic Church in Benue State.
Tinubu’s donation was presented by Rev. Hyacinth Alia, the APC governorship candidate in the state as part of activities to mark the centenary anniversary of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo.
5. The All Progressives Congress(APC) senatorial candidate for Benue South Comrade Daniel Onjeh on Thursday visited former Senate President David Mark to console him on the death of his first son, Jonathan Tunde Mark, after a protracted battle with cancer.
Speaking at the Abuja home of Mark during the visit, Onjeh said he was shattered by the news of Tunde’s untimely passing.
6. he leaders of the three main tribes of Benue state, on the aegis of Mzough U Tiv, MUT, Ochetoha K’Idoma, OKI, and Omi Ny’ Igede, ONI, have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to set up military posts at Gbeji and Chembe communities in Ukum, Logo and Agatu Local Government Areas, LGAs of the state respectively, to stem renewed herdsmen killings in parts of the state.
Addressing the media in Makurdi, the leaders, through their Chairman and President General of MUT worldwide, Chief Iorbee Ihagh decried the persistent armed herdsmen attacks on Benue communities particularly the recent invasion of Gbeji that claimed 39 lives and left many others hospitalised.
