1. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom says all leaders, irrespective of political affiliation must join hands now and work together to salvage Nigeria.

He reiterated his earlier position that all is not well with Nigeria and advocated the need for leaders and citizens to complement each other in efforts toward salvaging the country.

2. The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has challenged Local Government Council Chairmen in the state to show greater commitment to the development of their respective council areas.
Governor Ortom gave the challenge, Friday, October 7th, 2022 in Gboko where he commissioned the Gboko Modern Market.
The Governor commended the Gboko Council Chairman for demonstrating capacity for leadership and recording achievements within a short time in office and urged other Council Chairmen to emulate him by taking the development of their Council areas more serious.
3. The All Progressives Congress in Benue State constituted its governorship campaign council with the names of three governorship aspirants conspicuously missing.

Former chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Barnabas Gemade, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mike Aondakaa, SAN, and Professor Terhemba Shija names not on the list.

4. Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a non-partisan group, Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has organised an election sensitisation exercise in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, with a charge on the people to embrace religious and ethnic tolerance and elect leaders that will move the northern region and the country forward. The conference has as theme, “Politics of Sentiments: A critical factor militating development of democracy in Nigeria” and a sub-theme, “Religion and ethnic tolerance: P panacea to Nigeria’s survival as a nation.”

The organisers said the conference was to help citizens retrace their steps and refocus their energies in the delicate task of nation building to which the organisation is committed to achieve.

5. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Wednesday convened a meeting of traditional rulers, security agencies and leaders of political parties in Benue state as part of efforts to ensure peaceful electioneering in the state.

Addressing the gathering at the State’s headquarters of INEC in Makurdi, the Administrative Secretary for the State, Alhaji Shehu Adulwahab, urged all parties and stakeholders to ensure peace during the electioneering campaigns, saying without that “achieving peace on actual election day may be a mirage.”

6. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has said that arrangements for the recruitment of primary school teachers have been concluded.

According to the statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Terver Akase, the governor said that the recruitment process was being handled by the State Universal Basic Education Board.

7. The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP), have decried the Benue State House of Assembly’s vote against Local Government Autonomy as a show of disconnect between the assembly members and the plight of people at the grassroots which they are representing.

8. The National Directorate of Employment in Benue State, on Thursday, began training 100 youths on various vocational skills.

The training is in tandem with the Quick Fix/Technocultural Crafts Training Scheme (TECRAFTS) of the Vocational Skills Development (VSD) department of the NDE.

9. Benue state has recorded over 2,248 new cases of measles in the last seven months just as a new variant of polio has also been discovered in the state.

The State’s Health Educator, at the Primary Health Care Board, PHCB, Mr. Emmanuel Beeka who made this known in Makurdi explained that the new measles cases were recorded in the state between January and August 2022.

10. he Executive Chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, Mrs. Mimi Adzape-Orubibi has said the Benue State Revenue Administration Law, 2022 would help the state check the knotty issue of multiple taxation and also boost the revenue of the state and Local Government Areas, LGA.

Mrs. Adzape-Orubibi who made this known during the Joint State Revenue Committee, JSRC, meeting held in Makurdi said the law had enabled the harmonisation and consolidation of taxes in the state.
