1. Thousands of youths and women across the four Local Government Areas of Makurdi, Guma, Gwer East and Gwer West of Benue State on Wednesday staged a solidarity march in support of Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration and his 2023 senatorial ambition.
The youths and women who converged at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, the State capital, expressed their readiness to ensure that the governor is elected to represent the Benue North-West Senatorial district in the National Assembly come 2023.
2. A Benue State High Court has dismissed a defamation case filed against the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, and a Nigerian human rights activist, Sesugh Akume.
The suit was filed by the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom.
Ortom had instituted a N150million libel suit (MHC/284/2021) against Sowore and Akume.
3. IDOMA VOICE recalls that Tunde, the first son of former senate president, David Mark died October 21 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 51.
The burial arrangement as announced by the family and obtained by IDOMA VOICE showed that the remains of Tunde would be laid to rest on November 11, 2022.
4. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has fixed November 17, 2022, to deliver judgment in the suit filed by Chief Mike Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, challenging the gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed fixed the date, Wednesday after counsel for the parties adopted their processes in the matter.
5. The Federal Government has sent relief materials to persons displaced by the flood disaster in Benue state.
The Federal Government through National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), has already handed over the items to Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in Makurdi.
6. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has warned the leadership of the People Democratic Party (PDP) to address the grievances of some hurt members of the party, particularly the aggrieved five governors, or forget the 2023 presidential election. Ortom said this yesterday in Makurdi during the inauguration of the Benue PDP Campaign Council.
But the PDP Presidential Campaign Council responded by telling Ortom not to compare the circumstances that led to the defection of five governors of the party to All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2015 elections to the current crisis in PDP spawned by seemingly irreconcilable differences between party and Rivers State Governor Nyrsom Wike and his loyalists. The problem started since Wike failed to get the vice presidential running mate.
