1. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has sent a message of congratulations to the Prelate-elect of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Oliver Abah.
The Governor praised the Church for deploying the tenets of democracy in the election of its leaders and encouraged the church leaders to teach their members how to be positively involved in rebuilding Nigeria now that it has become imperative for the church to play its role, by not only praying for the leaders but actively getting involved.
2. The Senator Representing the good people of Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro haas congratulated Archbishop Oliver Abah on his emergence as Prelate-Elect of Methodist Church Nigeria.
Senator Moro said he believes that Archbishop Abah’s emergence is a testament of his dedication, service to God and humanity.
3. A group known as Benue Youth Forum, BYF is demanding security agencies to arrest and prosecute the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore for perpetrating killings in Benue State.
The group also describes as “laughable, baseless and empty” a threat by Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore to drag Governor Samuel Ortom to the International Criminal Court of Justice at the Hague for allegedly seizing their cattle and arresting their members.
4. The Benue State Police Command has nabbed the kingpin of a kidnap syndicate, Achobo Samuel, that specialised in kidnapping women.
Parading the suspect at the command headquarters in Makurdi, the command’s Spokesperson, Catherine Anene, said that the kingpin was smoked out of his hideouts.
5. A group known as the Benue People of Conscience (B-POC) has advanced reasons why the Benue State government should be allowed to access the loan facility of N41.39 billion to pay pensions and workers salary.
It would be recalled that the state House of Assemble had earlier approved the said amount to be accessed by the state government for the payment of pensions and workers’ emoluments.
6. The Nigerian government, through the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing spent N82,264,000.00 to construct a single security gate at the Federal Polytechnic Adikpo in Benue State, according to a report published by a budget spending and monitoring platform, BudgIt.
The contract was awarded to M/S Nartdana Investment Limited under the Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs.
