1. A group under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress Proactive Front (APC-PF) has advised the leadership of the party in Benue State against selecting a gubernatorial running mate without widely consulting stakeholders in Benue South Senatorial District.
The group gave the advice in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Arc. Oche Onyilokwu and made to newsmen in Makurdi, the state capital on Monday.
2. A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue, Mr Philip Wuhe, has defected to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Wuhe said this when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi.
3. An aspirant who contested on the platform of Labour Party (LP) for a seat in the Benue State House of Assembly, Sesugh Solomon Semaka, has asked a Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, the state capital, to declare him the authentic candidate of the party for 2023 elections.
The plaintiff in the suit is asking the court to make an order directing the the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to him in the event that the State House of Assembly Elections scheduled for the 2023 General Election in his Constituency on April 11, 2023 holds before the determination of his suit
4. The operatives of the Niger State Police Command have rearrested a 42-year-old Kuje Prison escapee, John Ijamu, in the state.
According to him, the suspect hails from Apa Local Government Area of Benue State but resides in Minna, the Niger State capital.
5. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has said between 2017 and this year, over 5,000 farmers including women and children have been killed by armed herdsmen.
The governor also said the state, which prides itself as food basket of Nigeria is losing the status because of the attacks.
