1. The Benue State Police Command on Monday detained a young man for pulling down billboards belonging to the People’s Democratic Party in the state.
The suspect was said to have been caught destroying billboards by the Makurdi Local Government Area task force in Wurukum area of the capital city.
2. All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue State chapter has accused Governor Samuel Ortom of illegal and unlawful interference in the smooth running of the local government councils describing the act as unconstitutional and unforgivable.
The party’s publicity secretary, Daniel Ihomun, who made this known during a press conference in Makurdi also called on the State House of Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against the governor for maladministration so as to save the local government administrations from going into extinction, adding that after over two months of swearing-in the council chairmen, the governor is yet to swear-in councillors.
3. Men of the Benue State Police command have arrested an eighteen man suspected kidnap gang during a stop-and-search operation along Utonkon Road, in Ado Local Government Area, LGA, of the state.
The arrest of the suspects in the area which had in the past witnesssed repeated cases of kidnappings, also led to the recovery of fire arms and live ammunition from the suspects who were said to have besieged the community from Ikpayongo in Gwer LGA of the state.
4. The Benue State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Samuel Ortom n of allegedly mismanaging and manipulating the local government system in the state to his advantage, even as government in a swift reaction described such as a mere distraction.
“Governor Ortom’s undying desire to mismanage local governments in Benue State and run them as his private ventures has made him to disregard every provision of the Constitution on Local Government administration,” the APC said.
5.. The Tiv Youth Council Worldwide has issued a warning to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state and his cohorts over insistence on the removal of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu as the only ground for peace talks between Atiku Abubakar and Governor Nyesom Wike.
President of the Tiv youth council, Hon Mike Msuaan, in a press statement issued, Monday, accused Governor Ortom of working with other governors of the federation to remove Ayu from office.
