1. Sunday Obute, a police officer attached to Jikwoyi Police Division has been murdered by armed robbers in Angwangede area of the FCT.
Obute, a native of Orokam was killed by men of the underworld during a gun battle around the area.
2. Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing Limited has hailed the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom for purchasing 600 vehicles from its factory.
Cornel Osigwe, the corporate communications manager of Innoson said the governor had purchased the vehicles, which were unveiled last week Thursday, for the state’s security outfit known as Community Volunteer Guards.
3. Rev. Hyacinth Alia, the 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue, has called on the people to work for the unity and the good of the state.
He made the appeal at his 32nd priestly anniversary and Thanksgivings Mass in Ihugh, Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue on Sunday.
4. The Benue Youth Forum, BYF has described attempts by the All Progressive Congress in the state to denigrate the newly commissioned volunteer guards as irresponsible.
The Youths in a statement signed by its President, Terrence Kuanum said it received with utter dismay and surprise the attempt by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC to water down the unveiling of the Benue Community Volunteer Guards, BCVG, as a security outfit to compliment the conventional security in the state towards enhanced security.
5. Barely one week after Daily Trust reported about the non commencement of activities at the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital in Makurdi, the Benue State government has formally handed over the facility for operations to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH).
The 120-bed hospital was commissioned on March 1st, this year by President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGH), Boss Mustapha.
6. The Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has expressed optimism that the new President of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Benue State Daniel Okoh will provide the much desired support for Christians across the country who have suffered ceaseless attacks and marginalization.
While congratulating Okoh on his installation as CAN president Governor Samuel Ortom acknowledged that the prayers of the church have sustained the State in the midst of its numerous challenges.
7. The Conference of Benue Journalists (CBJ), has commended the Benue government on the establishment of Community Volunteer Guards.
The group made the commendation in a statement issued by its Vice-President, Mr Ewache Ajefu, on Monday in Abuja.
8. The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), has congratulated the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom and the entire people of Benue over the Passing Out Parade of the 1st batch of Benue State Community Volunteer Guards last Thursday.
A statement on Monday by its acting President of SOKAPU, Awemi Dio Maisamari, noted that Benue state, just like Kaduna State, especially Southern Kaduna, had been ravaged by mass killings of citizens, wanton destructions of communities, millions of innocent cities and large scale disruption of economic activities among other grim features that have become the hallmark of the evil been carried out by armed Fulani bandits and allied outlaws.
